The University of Mississippi, Fall 1995
Instructor: John B. Padgett
English 200, "Introduction to Literature," is a sophomore-level course which introduces to
students the genres of fiction, poetry, and drama. Among the objectives of the course are
- to enable students to better understand the themes of literature,
- to be better able to read and comprehend literature, and
- to improve students' analytical and interpretive skills.
Also key to this course is a willingness to find in literature thoughts, emotions, and ideas that
are relevant to "real" life.
